Lower Division (3 courses)
- Ethnic Studies 11AC
- Completion of two additional elective courses from: African American Studies, Asian American and Asian Diaspora Studies, Chicanx Latinx Studies, Ethnic Studies, Gender and Women’s Studies, LGBT Studies or Native American Studies (Note: Reading and Composition Courses and Freshman/Sophomore Seminars do not fulfill this requirement)
Upper Division (9 courses)
- Ethnic Studies 101A or Ethnic Studies 101B
- Ethnic Studies 190/190AC
- Completion of three elective courses from: Ethnic Studies 100, 103A, 103B, 103C, 103D, 103E, 122AC, 126, 127, 130, 135, 136, 144AC, 145, 147AC, 150, 159AC, C164A, 173AC, 174, 175, 176, 180, 180L, N180, 181AC, 182AC, 190, 190AC

Honors Program
The Department of Ethnic Studies provides a program leading to the B.A. degree with honors. Students will be recommended for honors if they have completed at least 30 units and two semesters with an average GPA of at least 3.5 overall and for all work undertaken in the Department of Ethnic Studies. Students must also have been approved specifically for honors by the department chair upon recommendation by the faculty advisor for the group major. Honors students will be required to complete Ethnic Studies H196A-B, Senior Honors Seminar for Ethnic Studies Majors. In order to graduate with an B.A. degree with honors, students must obtain at least a 3.5 GPA for all course work undertaken at the University.
Minor Requirements
– All courses taken for the Ethnic Studies Minor must be taken for a letter grade
– An overall GPA of 2.0 is required for all courses applied to the minor program
– At least three of the courses must be completed at U.C. Berkeley
– Only one course can be used to overlap between major(s) and minor requirements
