Professor Tom Biolsi, Ethnic Studies

Foucault understood government as arranging “the right disposition of things”–something quite different from our common understanding of government as a matter of the machinery of the state.  This talk will focus on three moments in the history of Rosebud Reservation in South Dakota (home of the Siċanġu Lakota or Rosebud Sioux) when new forms of governmentality were put into place to achieve the right disposition of the land and people.
