The Department of Ethnic Studies UC Berkeley

In collaboration with UC Berkeley’s Ethnic Studies Library and the upcoming exhibit, Victory is in the Struggle: The Scholar-Activism of Profe Carlos Munoz Jr., the Culture Counts Reading Series (CCRS), will hold a poetry workshop linked to the broad themes of the exhibit: Self-Determination, Solidarity, and Ethnic Studies. The CCRS is a transformative pedagogy project that convenes on a bi-weekly basis in San José. It is facilitated via a testimonial “story circle” pedagogy that encourages each participant to utilize the poetry we read as a launching pad to speak and write poems about their own life experiences, imaginaries, and social justice needs. Join us for an engaging session of reading, discussion, and writing poetry.
