Islamic Counternarratives: A Conversation with Javed Ghamidi

Join the CMES for a focused, text-based community discussion with theologian Javed Ghamidi on Shari'a, the role of Islam in the State, and the varieties of scriptural reasoning and interpretation in Islam. Mr. Ghamidi is the founder of the Al-Mawrid Institute of Islamic Sciences in Lahore, Pakistan, as well as its satellite sister organization, Danish Sara. He is a former member of the Council of Islamic Ideology, a constitutional body responsible for advising the government of Pakistan on religious and legal matters. 

Interested parties must register to attend with an RSVP to Prof. Asad Q. Ahmed, asad.ahmed@berkeley.edu, and to receive a copy of the texts for discussion. Light refreshments will be provided.
