The Department of Ethnic Studies UC Berkeley

I am a third-year student and recipient of the Chancellor’s Fellowship for Graduate Study. I received my BA (summa cum laude) in English Honors and Gender, Women & Sexuality Studies from the University of Washington in 2019.

My research orbits around race, war, and capitalism, US women of color literature, and the philosophies of modern liberalism, Marxism, and Sikhism. By situating the abstract promises and pillars of modern liberal thought in slavery, colonialism, capitalism, and empire, I read Marx’s materialist theory, Sikh philosophy, and US women of color literature as critiques of and/or alternatives to the violent “lived abstractions” that form the backbone of modern liberal onto-epistemologies.

I am on the editorial board for the critical humanities & social sciences journal Qui Parle, as well as a 2022 Los Angeles Review of Books Publishing Workshop Fellow.

I’m a huge nerd for sci-fi, fantasy, comics, video games, experimental rock, and all things weird and wonderful.
